Artists Statement

A multi discipline artist Ó Dúill's work developes through an organic intuitive creative process focused on painting, sculpture and photography, where each medium suits the intent within individual works.

Referencing everything from daily life to numerous fields of current research in a wide variety of areas such as social, scientific and environmental, space exploration, Quantum physics and mythology cross referenced with art history from ancient and contemporary sources

 

Simple yet complex compositions merge contemporary and traditional image production to celebrate the cyclical patterns of life.

The joy of living as a concept seems to have been put to the back-ground of human activity, socially and globally, through the action of creativity the art works encourage the audience to enjoy the wonders of being within our immediate environment, from tiny flowers and insects to massive star constellations and everything in between. 

Biography

Having completed his studies in Visual Communications DIT (CoMAD/ 1994), Ó Dúill moved to the Netherlands where he has had a number of successful solo exhibitions, while continuing to work within the field of graphic design.

On return to Dublin in 2005 he has continued to exhibit paintings in galleries such as Monster truck (2006) and with Phizzfest (2012), Phibsbourough, D7 art festival. 

In recent years he has focused on professional development including social media and public presentation skills, while continuing to focus on refining his paining technique.

"Landmarks", “Phizz Fest” Art Trail 2012, at St. Peters’ Church, a Phibsborough community arts festival.

411 Galleries, “Cead in China” part of a Culture Ireland group exhibition, held at several venues in China.

 

Aarau one minute film festival, Switzerland, August 07 (Group event).

 

2006 

“Location Location”, solo exhibition of paintings at Monster Truck Gallery and studios, 79 Francis street, Dublin.

 

2002

Solo exhibition of paintings:  Stads-deel Oudwest,  Amsterdam, curated by WC Kunst Gallery, Amsterdam. (Civic offices in Old West, Amsterdam.)

 

1999- 03  

Multi-media video and slide projections with NSCBZ and Sub United (NL) at the Paradiso, Melkweg and Masso, Vaag Huisen (NL) (Collaborative visual events for night club venues in Amsterdam).
